    Summary: Meet Stellaluna. Stellaluna is a fruit bat who has had a most unusual life. When Stellaluna was very young, she and her mother were flying through the forest in search of food. While hunting, Stellaluna and her mother were attacked by a powerful bird. While fighting with the powerful bird, Stellaluna’s mother to dropped her. Stellaluna fell through the tees and landed headfirst in a bird’s nest. Luckily Mama Bird adopted Stellaluna and took care of her. She only had one rule, Stellaluna had to behave like a bird, not a bat. Dutifully, Stellaluna obeyed Mama Bird and ate insects, slept at night, and even learned to hang by her thumbs instead of her feet. Then, while flying one night, Stellaluna is discovered by a group of bats who ask her why she hangs by her thumbs instead of her feet. So Stellaluna begins to tell her story to the group of bats. Luckily, Stellaluna’s mother had been flying with the group and overhears Stellaluna’s story. Now, Stellaluna’s mother must teach her how to live like a bat.
